Here are some photo's of my 1986 Ford Van (E150) with my plane rack installed. The rack is all steel conduit, gas welded and it can be removed in about 5 minutes. The yokes were made so they can expand and contract depending on the size of the plane. So far this has been a very worth while project and i do get a lot of compliments on it.
As for the cost? About 15.00 in conduit and 4 hours of work. Actually the whole thing van and all was a very inexpensive way to haul planes. When I got the van it had 52,000 miles on it. The engine is an inline 6 300 ci with a manual transmission. Not many remember the 3 on the tree anymore but this one has it. Good mileage, easy to maintain and it was a cheap buy for 500.00.
And yes, the van is only for airplanes!
